Gold Rush Pictures and Berlinale Talents Reveal Inaugural Golden Eggs Award Winners

International independent production company Gold Rush Pictures has announced the winners of the inaugural Gold Rush Pictures Berlinale Talents Lab Awards – The Golden Eggs, created in partnership with Berlinale Talents.

Selected from 18 projects within this year’s Berlinale Talents Lab cohort, filmmakers Marcel Beltrán, Subarna Dash and Aliaksei Paluyan will each receive a €5,000 development grant alongside support for their attendance at the Cannes Film Festival. The awards recognise emerging filmmakers whose projects demonstrate exceptional originality, creative ambition and cinematic voice.

The winning projects include Vicissitudes of Light by Marcel Beltrán, praised by the jury as “a gripping and highly original archival documentary”; Incubator by Aliaksei Paluyan, described as “a striking and deeply human portrait”; and In Heat, on Loop by Subarna Dash, recognised as “a bold and exhilarating animated project”.

The awards were judged by a distinguished jury appointed by Gold Rush Pictures, featuring acclaimed British screenwriter and director Rebecca Lenkiewicz, Austrian-German filmmaker Feo Aladag and renowned German director Tom Tykwer.

Alongside announcing the winners, Gold Rush Pictures also confirmed an expansion of its partnership with Berlinale Talents, becoming an official co-partner for the 2027 and 2028 editions of the programme. The collaboration marks the first time an independent production company has supported the Berlinale Talents Lab in this capacity and reflects GRP’s long-term commitment to supporting bold new cinematic voices from around the world.
