The Entertainment System Is Down is the latest feature from acclaimed Swedish director Ruben Östlund, a satirical ensemble drama set aboard a long-haul flight where the in-flight entertainment system suddenly fails just after take-off.
What begins as a minor inconvenience soon becomes a claustrophobic social experiment, as a group of passengers are forced to face seventeen hours of boredom, discomfort and one another. Starring Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, Daniel Brühl, Samantha Morton, Nicholas Braun, Tobias Menzies, Julie Delpy and Vincent Lindon, the film brings together an exceptional international cast for Östlund’s sharply observed and darkly comic vision. The production began shooting in Budapest in 2025 and is currently in post-production.
